San Francisco Program Events, Seminars, & Networking

The San Francisco Internship Program events are one of the most popular features of our program. The events are planned to give you full exposure to your new city, while combining travel, with many of the most popular attractions in the city. Although your summer will be filled with gaining valuable work experience, it is very important that you gain the full experience of living in San Francisco, and our events will do just that. The following are just a few examples of activities from past programs, and the full roster of summer 2010 activities will be announced later in the year.
Tour of San Francisco
With all that San Francisco has to offer, you will kick start your summer with a tour of the city to allow you to get comfortable with your surroundings and get an overview of what sights you would like to explore during the summer. The tour will start with a drive around the city on one of the world famous San Francisco cable cars. While on the cable car, you will be guided through the main attractions of the city such as Fisherman’s Wharf, the Ferry Building, Nob Hill, past the Coit Tower and even down Lombard Street (The world’s crookedest street). After a great drive you’ll get to enjoy lunch as a group as you get ready for the second part of the day. After lunch you’ll be taking a sail around the bay on a catamaran, the catamaran ride will give you a scenic view of the city as you sail around the bay; this will give you a unique view to the city you’ll call home for the summer. This will definitely be the best way to spend the day and get you excited about your eight-week stay in beautiful San Francisco!
San Francisco Giants
Join us for America’s favorite pastime at AT&T Park! With the Bay Bridge in the background, you will watch the San Francisco Giants take on the A's. The stadium is a major attraction in itself, as it is arguably the most scenic stadium in baseball, located on the edge of the San Francisco Bay. Fans in boats wait anxiously for the moment that a home run splashes into McCovey Cove.
Alcatraz Island
Hang out with Al Capone, his ghost that is! A visit to San Francisco is not complete without a trip to Alcatraz Island, where its federal penitentiary was home to Al Capone for many years. Taking the boat to the island will give you some of the best views of the city and of the rock so make sure to bring your camera. Once on the island you'll have the chance to take a self guided tour of the rock, the yard, the cells in general and of course go inside the cell that Al Capone called his own for so long. You'll also learn the history of the island before and after it was a penitentiary. Whether for the mystery of the prison, the overall marvel of the rock or the amazing views of the city by the bay, this will be a day for the books!
Overnight to Lake Tahoe
Get ready to take a mini vacation from work and from the busy city life! Located on the picturesque South Shore of Americas largest alpine lake, Lake Tahoe is truly one of the most beautiful and exciting places you’ll get to experience during the program. Located only a few hours from the city, you will have the a entire day to lounge on one of the breathtaking Tahoe beaches, play some beach games and enjoy a relaxing lunch before heading to the hotel to get ready for a fun night out in what is known as Mini-Las Vegas! This will definitely be a welcomed relief from the city life.
Dinner on the Town
After an amazing summer with the University of Dreams, you will spend one final night celebrating with your peers. This will be the last chance to get together as a group and reminisce on what will surely be one of the best summers of your life. With a little bit of music, a lot of dancing and some great food, the night will be spent remembering the great times behind us and preparing for the lasting friendships ahead of you! This will be the best way to end an amazing summer in beautiful San Francisco!
Unsponsored Events
To help you build your friendships and get more comfortable with the city, the staff will continuously be planning unsponsored activities for the entire group to take advantage of. These activities are optional, but they will make sure to get you acquainted with your new city, as well as keep your social calendar full.
